GOSHEN — Donald N. Schrock, 84, died Sunday at Heritage Point, Mishawaka, following a four-year struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
He was born Nov. 22, 1929 in Clinton Township, to George and Pearl (Hartsough) Schrock.
He was blessed to have married two wonderful wives, Shirley Darr on Oct. 8, 1949 and Sherry Horvath on Sept. 12, 1987.
He is survived by his wife, Sherry Schrock; a son, Bob (Marie) Schrock, Elkhart; a daughter, Bev (Devon) Yoder, Goshen; a son, John (Sabrina) Horvath, Goshen; five grandchildren, Mandi (Paulo) Juarez and Matt (Abby) Schrock, both of Elkhart, Rem (Racheal) Yoder, Indianapolis, Greg Yoder and Paige Yoder, both of Goshen; two great-grandchildren, Kai Juarez and Anna Yoder; a sister, Peg Lantzer, Goshen, and a brother, Jerry (Susan) Schrock, Syracuse.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Shirley; two sons, Tommy Schrock and Brad Horvath; and three brothers, Calvin, Harold and Joe Schrock.
A 1947 graduate of Millersburg High School, Mr. Schrock was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Middlebury American Legion.
He and his brother, Joe, founded DJ Construction in 1954 and he remained active in the business for 50 years and an owner after his retirement.
He was a founding member of People’s Bible Church, Benton. For many years he served as president of the Solomon Creek Cemetery Association. He was a former member of the Goshen Rotary Club.
Don loved his Lord, his family, his church and his company. He was known in the community for his love and service to others.
In keeping with Don’s wishes, cremation has taken place at Yoder-Culp Crematory.
A 4 p.m. celebration service will take place July 27 at Maple City Chapel, 2015 Lincolnway East, Goshen. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. The Rev. John Randolph will officiate.
Burial will follow at Solomon Creek Cemetery, Syracuse.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to People’s Bible Church.
