WAKARUSA —Earl Wiggins, 83, died unexpectedly of natural causes at 8:10 a.m. Thursday at Elkhart General Hospital, where he had been a patient for one day.
He was born Jan. 4, 1931 in South Bend, to Everett and Ines (Miller) Wiggins.
On May 27, 1950, he married Mardell Thews in Wakarusa. She survives, along with a daughter, Kathy (Garry) Anglemyer, Wakarusa; son, Denny (Colleen) Wiggins, Wakarusa; Nancy Keller (companion of the late Jerry Wiggins), Warsaw; eight grandchildren, Tonya Rohr, Nathan Wiggins, Stephanie Snyder, Barry Anglemyer, Kelly Anglemyer, Bobbi Smith, Jade Wienstein, and Jamie Wiggins; 12 great-grandchildren; a great-great grandson; and his brother, Don (Cathy) Wiggins, Montana.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Wiggins; sister, Helen McNut; and four brothers, Floyd, Everett Jr., Ron and Jim Wiggins.
Mr. Wiggins served in the United States Marine Corps from 1952-1954. He retired in 1990 from Plymouth Glass Company, which he had owned since 1957. He was a member of the Wakarusa Lions Club. Mr. Wiggins had formerly attended Zion United Church of Christ and was currently attending First United Methodist Church in Goshen.
Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service Monday, all at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Wakarusa. The Revs. Ed and Brenda Fritz will officiate.
Burial will be in Olive West Cemetery.
