GOSHEN — Sue Drexler, 65, passed away Friday at the Courtyard Nursing Facility after suffering complications from multiple strokes.
Susan Jane was born Jan. 23, 1949 in DuBois, Pa., to Harold Robert and Jean (Henry) Roper. She had three older siblings, Barbara, Bob and Phyllis.
In 1967, while attending Philadelphia College of Bible, she met her husband, John. They were married June 19, 1971 in Dubois, Pa., and had three children, Lori, Micah, and Emily.
She was an active pastor’s wife throughout her marriage, staying involved even after her disability slowed her down physically. She was also a CNA, QMA and activities director at Carriage Manor Nursing Home (The Courtyard), a job that she loved.
Sue was a loving, devoted wife of almost 43 years. She was a wonderful mother to her children and loved by her grandchildren. She will be remembered for her kindness, her spunk, her smile and deep love for her Savior.
Sue is survived by her husband, John; daughters, Lori (Pete) Trolinger, Marseilles, Ill., and Emily (Jeff) Spicher, Syracuse; son, Micah (Cara) Drexler, Enfield, N.H.; nine grandchildren, Madeleine, Noah, Caleb, Isaiah, Olivia, Mason, Kendalyn, Emma and Avery; and a sister, Phyllis (David) Schmid.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Jean Roper; her sister, Barbara Roper, who died in infancy; her brother, Bob Roper; and a grandson, Lincoln.
Memorials may be directed to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) in honor of her grandson, Noah, who fights Type 1 Diabetes.
Visitation will be Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. with services Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen.
Burial will be in Violett Cemetery, Goshen.
