WAKARUSA — Doris M. Mattern, 92, Washington Street, a former resident of Orchard Park, Wakarusa, and C.R. 30, Elkhart, died Thursday at 3:41 a.m. at Miller’s Merry Manor, Wakarusa.
She was born Sept. 30, 1920 in Elkhart County, to Noah and Eva (Clark) Davidhizar.
She married John Henry Mattern April 24, 1943, in Nappanee. He died Oct. 7, 1990.
She is survived by her son, Dennis (Kathy) Mattern, Nappanee; three grandchildren, John Charles (Emily) Mattern, Greensburg, Beth Ann (Ryan) Stutsman, Sunnyvale, Calif., and David Wayne Mattern, Mishawaka; and two great-grandchildren, Claire Elise Stutsman and Elijah Dale Mattern.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a sister, Geraldine Holderman.
She graduated from Nappanee High School and was a member of the United Methodist Church in Wakarusa. She worked at Key Bank, formerly Exchange State Bank, Wakarusa. She was also a member of the Homemakers Club and the Search Light Club, both of Elkhart County.
Friends may call Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret-Lienhart Funeral Home, 117 W. Waterford St., Wakarusa, where a funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. John Mattern, grandson of the deceased, will officiate.
Burial will be in South Union Cemetery, Nappanee.
