WHEATON, Ill. — John D. Olson Jr., 94, a longtime resident of Wheaton, passed away Monday.
He was born Feb. 5, 1918 in Wheaton. He spent his childhood in Wheaton and graduated from Wheaton High School in 1936. He went on to attend Western Illinois University. He served as a pilot in the Army Air Corps during World War II, where he held the rank of captain.
He was a sales executive for most of his working career. He was a Big Ten football official during the 1960s and 1970s. He lived in Goshen, Ind. for 15 years.
He is survived by his son, Jeffrey (Jane); his daughter, Leslie Ryan; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Joy (nee Tweedie) and his son, Jay.
Visitation will take place Friday from 3 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. at Williams-Kampp Funeral Home, 430 E. Roosevelt Road, Wheaton (one block east of Naperville Road). Interment will be in Wheaton Cemetery.
