NAPPANEE — Joseph T. “Joe” Linville, 73, died of natural causes Tuesday at 8:18 p.m.

He was born July 27, 1939 in Earl, Ark., to Garrett and Lizzie Linville. He moved to the Nappanee area as a child from Arkansas. He worked as a carpenter and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and listening to country gospel music.

Joe married Laverne Duncan on Oct. 15, 1957, in Nappanee. She survives, along with sons, Ron (Nancy) Linville and Dennis (Teresa) Linville, both of Nappanee; and daughter, Cindy (Joel) Sawyer of Syracuse; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brothers, Jack (Nancy) Linville of Florida and Ray (Laney) Linville of Goshen; and sisters, Faye Tyier and Anna Mae Ashby, both of Goshen.

He was preceded in death by brothers C.L. and Bill Linville, and a sister, Janie Blackburn.

Friends may visit with the family two hours prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service Saturday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee.

Burial will follow at Union Center Cemetery.

There has been discussion at West Goshen Elementary School to require mandatory student uniforms in the future. How do you feel about the prospect of mandatory student uniforms in a public school environment?

I think it’s an excellent idea that is way overdue
I think it’s a bad idea and would be restrictive for students and parents.
