ELKHART — Betty J. Yoder, 83, passed away Saturday at Woodland Manor.
She was born June 21, 1930, in Temperance, Mich., to Hiram and Beulah (Myers) Meredith.
On Dec. 26, 1953, she married Abraham Yoder in Angola. He preceded her in death Oct. 30, 2005, in Elkhart.
She is survived by a son, Steven R. Yoder, Elkhart; daughter, Sharyn Abby, Elkhart; stepson, Richard (Pat) Yoder, Centreville, Mich.; and five grandchildren, Brandy Yoder, Jenny Yoder, Candi Miller, Robert Smoot and Michael Abby. Also surviving are 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Juanita (Tom) Sosbe; and a brother, Danny Meredith.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Meredith.
Betty was a life member of the Elkhart Disabled American Veterans Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the Elkhart County Community Baptist Church. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, listening to country music and going to the Osceola Blue Grass Festival. Betty retired from Whitehall Labs, where she worked for 47 years.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today and one hour prior to the 11 a.m. service Thursday at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home, Elkhart. Pastor Ed Ritchie from Elkhart County Community Baptist Church will preside.
Burial will follow in Prairie Street Cemetery, Elkhart. Memorial contributions may be given to the Elkhart County Community Baptist Church.
