Joann H. Miller, 79, 1225 Greencroft Drive, died Monday at 1:15 p.m. Her final days were eased by the presence of friends and staff who provided tender care at Greencroft Goshen Health Care.
She was born Oct. 9, 1933 in Toledo, Ohio, to Charles H. and Julia L. (Staebler) Heine.
She married Wilbur D. Miller May 25, 1952. He died July 13, 2008.
She is survived by her son, Stewart C. Miller, Houston, Texas; daughter, Kathy (LaVern) Nisley, Goshen; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Joann and her husband, Wilbur, were co-owners of Heine Hardware, which is now John Hall’s Hardware in Goshen. She retired from the State of South Carolina, Office of the Governor as data management and research administrator, Energy Division. She also worked at Kessler Air Force Base while Wilbur was in the service. She was a member of First English Lutheran Church, Goshen. Joann was a very active member in the churches where Wilbur ministered in Spencerville, then Prosperity, S.C. and St. Stephens Lutheran Church, Lexington, S.C.
Friends may call Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. at First English Lutheran Church, 406 S. Fifth St., Goshen, where a funeral service is set to take place at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Gene Hollingsworth will officiate.
Burial will be in Violett Cemetery, Goshen.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First English Lutheran Church.
