Ruby Grace Hall

Nov. 8, 1919-Dec. 4, 2012

JONES, Mich. — Ruby Grace Hall, 94, died Tuesday at Cass County Medical Care Facility in Cassopolis. She had been in declining health for two years.

Ruby was born in Elkhart County, Ind., Nov. 8, 1918, to Clarence and Dessie (Walker) Blough.

On Feb. 16, 1941, she married Chester George Hall at Chapel Hill Missionary Church. He preceded her in death May 11, 2004.

Ruby was a member of Chapel Hill Missionary Church. Living near the church gave her the opportunity to host evangelists and missionaries. She served in various capacities at the church as custodian, Sunday school teacher, in the children’s ministry, and most notably as the Teen Bible Quiz coach. She took teams to many competitions in Michigan, Indiana and Ohio, resulting in MYFI competitions in California, Canada, Montana, Oklahoma and South Dakota. Her main passion was the family farm where she worked many long, hard days. She was able to out work a good man and both sons.

Surviving Ruby are her daughters, Barbara (Larry) Miller, Union, and Marilyn (Richard) Frey, Middlebury, Ind.; son, Dale (Janelle) Hall, Jones; 12 grandchildren, Tamara (Rick) Watts, Matt (Jill) Frey, Aimmee Mullendore, Josh (Laura) Frey, Anngee (Kyle) Evans, Sarah (Tom) Smead, Seth (Amy) Hall, Douglas Chester Hall, Ryan (Amber) Hall, Eric Hall, Shalee Hall and Levi Hall; and 22 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Doug Hall; daughter, Connie Hall; grandson, Nickolas Frey; two great-grandsons Elijah Hall and Landon Gingerich; sisters, Veldeen Kindig, Pauline Johnson, Ruth Holdeman and Thelma Steiner; and brother, Harold Blough.

Relatives and friends will be received Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Eley Funeral Home in Constantine.

Religious services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Chapel Hill Missionary Church, Union, with the Rev. Ken Bontrager officiating.

Interment will be at Plum Grove Cemetery in Porter Township.

Memorial contributions may be made to the church.

Online messages of condolence may be left for the family at www.eleyfuneralhomes.com.

Three Goshen elementary schools — Chandler, Chamberlain and West Goshen — are providing free meals to all students during the school year as part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Community Eligibility Provision of the Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010. Nearly 80 percent of students at Chandler, 89 percent of students at Chamberlain and 78 percent of students at West Goshen already qualify for free or reduced-price lunches based on their family income. How do you feel about the new lunch program?
