Harvey H. Kauffman, 79, died at 6:16 a.m. Wednesday at Greencroft Health Care Center, Goshen. He had been in declining health battling cancer.
He was born on March 12, 1933, in Hydro, Okla., to Henry and Mary Ann (Stutzman) Kauffman.
On March 1, 1953, he married Fannie Irene Herschberger in White Pigeon, Mich. She died Feb. 22, 2009.
He is survived by his two daughters, Gayle (Ron) Kohlmeyer of Bristol and Sonja Neal of Middlebury; two sons, Rick (Ruth) Kauffman of North Adams, Mich., and Darwin (Susie) Kauffman of Millersburg; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Clara Gingerich of Iowa City, Iowa; and a brother, Jacob (Jean) Kauffman of Kalona, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; a son, Michael Kauffman; two grandsons, Matthew and Malachi Kauffman; three sisters and two brothers.
He was a member of First Mennonite Church, had served on the Middlebury Civil Defense, and was a longtime member of the Crystal Valley Exchange Club where he was in charge of the Taco Stand for many years. He had worked for Yoder Oil for 30 years.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 S. Main St., Middlebury.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Mennonite Church, Middlebury. The Rev. Gary Martin will conduct the services.
Burial will be in Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury.
