Alan E. Leinbach

— NORTH WEBSTER — Alan E. Leinbach, 65, passed away at 1:35 p.m. Sunday at his home.

He was born on Oct. 6, 1947 in Goshen, to Maurice E. and Joyce C. (Yoder) Leinbach.

He graduated in 1965 from Millersburg High School in Millersburg and in 1972 received a bachelor’s degree from Eastern Mennonite College in Harrisonburg, Va. He also completed some post-graduate studies at Eastern Mennonite Seminary and Grace Seminary.

He was married June 30, 1973 in Hagerstown, Md., to Helen K. Eby, who survives and moved to the North Webster area in November 1989 from Maryland.

He retired in June from Grace College and Seminary in Winona Lake after 23 years of service. He was also formerly part of the pastoral team at North Pointe Fellowship in Warsaw.

He attended Family Worship Center at the Lighthouse in Goshen. He formerly attended North Pointe Fellowship in Warsaw, formerly coached Upward Basketball at the North Webster United Methodist Church and was a board member for Mennonite Disaster Services.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Leinbach of North Webster; daughter, Betsy (Jon Bontrager) Leinbach of Charlotte, N.C.; two sons, Andy Leinbach of Chicago, Ill., and Mark (Marlea) Leinbach of Dundee, Ohio; five grandchildren; his mother, Joyce Leinbach of Markle; sister, Nancy Leinbach of Uniondale; and Dennis (Joyce) Leinbach of Uniondale.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Visitation will take place today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Owen Family Funeral Home, at the corner of Ind. 13 and C.R. 500 North, North Webster.

Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church, 7822 E. Epworth Forest Road, North Webster, with the Rev. Steve Leinbach of Believers Fellowship Church in Goshen officiating.

Burial will follow in the Mock Addition of North Webster Cemetery.     

Memorial bequests may be given to Heartline Pregnancy Center, Inc., 1515 Provident Drive, Suite 180, Warsaw, IN 46580 or Mennonite Disaster Services, 583 Airport Road, Lititz, PA 17543. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church.
