Harry C. Beard, Goshen, 78, died Friday at 7:26 p.m. at IU Health Goshen Hospital.
He was born July 16, 1935 in South Whitley to Paul and Mary Jane (Thomas) Beard.
On Nov. 28, 1987 he married Reta (Huffman) Beard.
She survives along with eight children, Harry C. (Linda) Beard, Chiefland, Fla., Daniel (Carol) Beard, Goshen, Debra Beard, Elkhart, Kenneth (Jamie) Beard, Middlebury, Sandy (Terry) Smith, Middlebury, Gary (Kathy) Beard, Goshen, Tina (Shane) Jackson, Goshen and Scott (Cricket) Beard, Elkhart; six stepchildren, Phillip (Judy) Moles, Goshen, Timothy (Beverly) Moles, Goshen, David (Rita) Moles, Goshen, Michael (Brett) Rich, Merryville, Tenn., Sherry (Wayne) Burschell, Beaufort, S.C. and Shirley (David) Corbin, Goshen; one sister, Linda; two half-brothers, Patrick and Eric Beard, South Whitley; 36 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, William Beard in 2001 and a sister Darlene Whymer.
Harry worked as a general foreman at Homecrest for 32 years, retiring in 2006.
He attended First Assembly of God, Goshen, enjoyed playing golf at Big Boulder Golf Course, Milford, he played bass guitar for the Country Travelers and Country Junction bands. He also loved to deer hunt and fish, as well as watching NASCAR.
Visitiation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St. Goshen where the service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday with Pastor Jason Kincaid officiating
He will be buried in Violett Cemetery.
