NOBLESVILLE — Keith D. Bittle, 81, passed away Saturday.
He was born April 25, 1932, in Harrisburg, Pa., to Keith B. and Ellen Osgood Bittle.
Keith was a pilot who flew a variety of planes, jets and helicopters. His favorite military aircraft was the Huey helicopter, which he flew coast to coast. He proudly served his country in the Air Force, retiring as Capt. Keith, affectionately known as “Pete.” He enjoyed repairing and restoring antique cameras. He had worked as an engineer at Wheelhorse and Bendix. Also, Pete was a technician in the chemistry laboratory at Notre Dame.
Most importantly, Pete loved Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior. His family, friends, prayer groups and small groups were also an integral part of his life.
Pete was a member of EAA, AOPA and the VFR Flyers. He was also a member of the Mishawaka Pilots Club 54 Fox, which was his military training group.
In addition to his parents, Keith was preceded in death by his brother, David Bittle. Survivors include his loving wife of 44 years, Wendy Williams Bittle; children, Katrina (Brian) Durance, Curtis (Mandy) Bittle and Jessica Hilborn; grandchildren, Eva Durance, Judah, Elinore, Calliope and Roland Hilborn; and sisters, Sara Money and Nancy Handwork.
Family and friends will gather Saturday at 1:30 p.m. for a celebration of life service at Radiant Christian Life Church, where Pete was a member.
