WAKARUSA — Dennis C. “Bear” Lechlitner, 67, died Friday at 6:10 p.m. at Elkhart General Hospital.
He was born Nov. 28, 1945, in Mishawaka, to Mervin L. and Julia (Pletchers) Lechlitner. On Sept. 30, 1967, he married Velma J. (Miller) Lechlitner at Nappanee Church of the Brethren. She survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons, Bill (Stacey) Lechlitner of Warsaw and Alex (Stephanie) Lechlitner and Tim (Jill) Lechlitner, both of Wakarusa; three brothers, Max (Marjorie) Lechlitner of Wakarusa, Stanley (Sandy) Lechlitner of Milford, and Brian (Laurie) Lechlitner of Elkhart; and six grandsons, Jonah, Samuel, and Nathaniel Lechlitner, Brock and Nicholas Lechlitner, and Hunter Lechlitner.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was a 1964 graduate of Wakarusa High School. He was the owner/operator of Bear’s Auto Body Repair in Wakarusa for 21 years.
He was a member of Wakarusa Missionary Church. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and being out in his woods.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Wakarusa Missionary Church, and one hour prior to the 10 a.m. funeral service Tuesday at the church. The Rev. Ted B. Wilson will officiate. Burial will be in Olive (East) Cemetery.
