GOSHEN — Cecil Charles Swartzendruber, 71, 58527 Ind. 15, died Monday at 6 p.m. at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Sarasota, Fla. He suffered a stroke Jan. 17.
He was born April 19, 1939 at home in Huron County, Mich., to Walter and Bessy (Caul) Swartzendruber.
He lived in this area since 1961 and was founder of Cecil’s Heating and Cooling. He retired in 2008. He was a member of Pleasant View Mennonite Church, an avid fisherman and collected clocks.
He married Erma Kauffman May 14, 1961, in Goshen.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Roger (Kami) Swartzendruber and Jeff Swartzendruber, both of Goshen; a daughter, Debra (Shane) Gascho, Mount Pleasant, Mich.; five grandchildren; a brother, Winston (Corrine) Swartzendruber, Ephrata, Pa.; and two uncles, Edd Swartzendruber and Claude Swartzendruber, both of Goshen.
He was preceded in death by an infant son.
Friends may call Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen, and one hour prior to the 10 a.m. service Saturday at Pleasant View Mennonite Church, Goshen. The Revs. Ron Diener and Tyler Hartford of the church will officiate.
Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Swartzendruber, Aaron Swartzendruber, Eric Swartzendruber, Mark Kauffman, Barry Kauffman, Brent Miller, Greg Miller and Frank Swartzendruber.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Jefferson Brethren Food Pantry or Pleasant View Mennonite Church.
