SHIPSHEWANA — Lydia B. Bontreger, 91, died at 11:07 a.m. Monday at her residence.
She was born on June 1, 1921, in LaGrange County, to Benjamin and Lizzie (Miller) Bontrager.
On May 16, 1987, she married Elmer M. Bontreger in LaGrange County. He died June 25, 2012.
She is survived by five stepsons, Glen (Polly Anna) Bontreger of Topeka, Eldon Ray (Sheila) Bontreger of Chanhassen, Minn., Perry (Mary Lou) Bontreger and Vernon (Sue) Bontreger both of LaGrange, and Ora (Christine) Bontreger of Battle Creek, Mich.; seven stepdaughters, Mary (Ez) Ropp of Middlebury, Waneta (Raymond) Yoder of Donna, Texas, Esther Ellen (Phillip) Yoder of Burr Oak, Mich., Edna Mae (Wilbur) Bontrager of Topeka, Freda (Lee) Richardson, Carolyn Bontreger and Ruth (Orla) Bontrager, all of Shipshewana; 45 stepgrandchildren; 130 stepgreat-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son-in-law, Elmer Eash; three brothers, Manasses, Joseph and Noah Bontrager; and two sisters, Saloma Mast and Barbara Gingerich.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Tuesday and all day Wednesday at the family residence, 3500 N. 500 West, Shipshewana.
Funeral services will begin at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the Ray Miller residence, 3930 N. 500 West, Shipshewana. Bishop Jacob Jones and the home ministers will conduct the services.
Burial will be in Miller Cemetery, LaGrange.
