WAKARUSA — Ruth Lucile (Stickel) Spicher, 90, passed away Sunday at Elkhart General Hospital.
She was born on April 3, 1923, to Fredrick (Arndt) and Estella (Stella Dolittle) Stickel in Elkhart County.
On Aug. 10, 1946, she married Dale R. Spicher. He preceded Ruth in death May 19, 1991.
Ruth graduated from Wakarusa High School in 1941. In 1942, she worked for Ball Band with her friend, Elorna Conrad for 11 years. In 1966, she worked for Miles Labs until she retired 26 years later.
She enjoyed shopping and traveling with her friends and enjoyed eight cruises around the world and several day trips after her retirement. She also loved spending time with her family.
Ruth is survived by her son, Craig (Linda) Spicher of Wakarusa; grandsons, Dustin (Jenny) Spicher of Akron and Christopher (Serenity) Spicher, who both serve in the United States Air Force and are stationed at Nellis, AFB, Nev.; great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Jessica Spicher of Akron; sisters, Lois Horn (the late Walter Horn) and Esther George, both of Wakarusa; and brother, Dean (Annie) Stickel, of Wakarusa.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
Visitation will take place Thursday from 3 to 8 p.m. at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Wakarusa, where funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday. The Rev. Mike Vandandevorde will officiate.
Burial will follow at Olive West Cemetery.
