Vera Louise Beadle

Sept. 12, 1920-May 23, 2013

ELKHART — Vera Louise Beadle, 92, crossed the Great Divide Thursday at 5:16 a.m. She was a resident of Hubbard Hill Estates for many years.

She was born in Nappanee, Sept. 12, 1920 to Clara (Price) and John Bixler.

Vera was a graduate of Madison Township High School.

On Oct. 17, 1942, she married her lifelong best friend, Joseph J. Beadle. During her life she followed her husband, with the military, to many locations including New York, Louisiana, Indiana and Florida. She worked for Miles Laboratory for 45 years and then “retired” to start a manufactured housing dealership, Oxbow Homes, with her husband.

Upon her second retirement, she and her husband enjoyed many years together in their adopted state of Florida. Vera enjoyed decorating, cards with friends and thrived on family time over a hot dinner.

She was a remarkable amateur photographer, with her granddaughters and great-grandchildren as her favorite subjects. Vera organized hundreds of photo albums that displayed her talent and family. She continued to enjoy traveling, eating out and visits with her family after her retirement.

Vera will be remembered for her sharp wit, one-line zingers and deep, heartfelt love of family. She will be sorely missed by her many loved ones.

Vera is survived by her loving family including her son, Dennis J. Beadle, and his wife, Linda L. Beadle, of Bradenton, Fla. She is also survived by her foster brother, Tom Gaskill of Englewood, Fla., and granddaughters, Kimberly (Craig) Baker, Jennifer (Jason) Schreiber and Amanda (Jeffery E.) Miller; and six well-loved great-grandchildren.

Vera will be welcomed across the Great Divide with tremendous love by her husband of 60 years, Joe Beadle, and her parents. Also welcoming her home will be her sisters, Erma Reedy and Gladys Wagner and her beloved granddaughter, Alexis Schreiber.

A celebration of her life with friends and family will take place at the Chapel at Hubbard Hill Estates Tuesday. Visitation will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Chaplain Dave Severance will preside over the memorial service at 11:30 a.m. with the procession to Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola to follow. Following graveside services, a luncheon will be served in the Chapel at Hubbard Hill. All are welcome to join her family.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Hubbard Hill Chapel Sound System.

Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home, Elkhart, is entrusted with arrangements.
