Dennis Branum Jr.

July 22, 1925-Sept. 28, 2013

GOSHEN — Dennis Branum Jr. passed away at 12:28 am Saturday at IU Health Goshen Hospital.

Dennis was born in Goshen to Dennis and Leah (Schoonover) Branum.

He married Mary Lawrence Nov. 30, 1957.

Surviving are his wife Mary; son Dennis; daughter Kathy (Jeff) Pugh of Sacramento, Calif., and two grandsons.

Preceding him in death were his parents; three sisters Ethel Branum, May Gross and Eva Hunt and five brothers Ray, Edgar, Paul, Glen and Vern Branum.

During World War II Dennis delivered bomb racks to the Kingsbury Ordinance Plant. After the war he delivered boats for Star Craft. Then he began his long career with Coca-Cola, retiring in 1988 after 33 years of service.

Pastor Stan Godfrey of the New Paris Church of the Brethren will officiate a private graveside service at Violett Cemetery, Goshen.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Paralyzed Veterans of America (www.support veterans.org).

There has been discussion at West Goshen Elementary School to require mandatory student uniforms in the future. How do you feel about the prospect of mandatory student uniforms in a public school environment?

I think it’s an excellent idea that is way overdue
I think it’s a bad idea and would be restrictive for students and parents.
