erry “Jake” Bechtold, 70, Goshen, died at 11 p.m., Friday at his home.
He was born June 30, 1942, in Wabash, Ind., to William E. and Edith (Frushour) Bechtold.
On Dec. 7, 1963, he married Elsie (Urschel) Bechtold. She survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Teresa (Martin) Miller of Goshen, James (Lura) Bechtold of Nappanee and Jill Bechtold of Lincoln, Maine; nine siblings, Tom (Marcella) Bechtold of North Manchester, Ind., Terry (Becky) Bechtold of Urbana, Ind., Larry (Diane) Bechtold of North Manchester, Ind., Melvin Bechtold of Columbia City, Ind., Shelba (Dean) Neher of North Manchester, Ind., Richard (Ruth) Bechtold of Bippus, Ind., Billy Bechtold of Huntington, Ind., Donald (Helen) Bechtold of North Manchester, Ind., and Betty McCune of Markle, Ind.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Opal McColley; and a brother, Max Bechtold.
He was a farmer and a self-employed milk transporter. He was part of “the gang” at the Cafe and Dana J’s.
Visitation will take place today from 5 to 8 p.m. at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret-Lienhart Funeral Home, Wakarusa. There will be no funeral service.
