Rudy C. Yoder, 85, died at 10:05 a.m. Friday at Courtyard of Goshen, following a short illness.
He was born on Nov. 26, 1927 in Wayne County, Ohio, to Christ D. and Mary (Troyer) Yoder.
On Nov. 23, 1948, he married Martha “Mattie” Yoder. She died Jan. 25, 2006. He had moved to Indiana in 1989, coming from Minnesota.
He is survived by his six sons, Sam (Emma) Yoder, John Yoder and Enos (Carolyn) Yoder, all of Goshen, Ben (Ada) Yoder of Orrville, Ohio, Ray (Mary) Yoder of Middlebury and Rudy Jr. (Mary) Yoder of Lake View, Mich.; 28 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a sister, Elizabeth (Dan) Yoder of Goshen.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; three sisters, Susie, Mattie and Amanda Yoder; four brothers, Benjamin, Dan, Pete and Jonathan Yoder; two half brothers, Andrew and Levi Yoder; two grandchildren, Susan and Benjamin; and a daughter-in-law, Delila Yoder.
He was a member of Fairhaven Mennonite Church, a farmer, painter and most recently had worked at Weiland Designs in Goshen.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 S. Main St., Middlebury.
Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Fairhaven Mennonite Church, Goshen. Services will be conducted by the Fairhaven ministers and the Rev. Ray Stutzman of North Liberty.
Burial will be in Thomas Cemetery, Goshen.
