George R. ‘Dick’ Naylor

Dec. 16, 1931-March 30, 2013

SARASOTA, Fla. — George R. “Dick” Naylor, 81, beloved husband, father and grandfather, went to be with his Lord Saturday.

Nancie, his wife of 61 years, survives him along with two daughters, Risa (Dale) Waugh and Renee (Jay) Kicklighter; five grandchildren, Andrew, Tyler, Amanda, Adrienne and Casey; and a great-grandson, Nicholas. He is also survived by a brother, Doug (Pat) Naylor of California.

Dick and his family moved to Sarasota from Goshen, Ind., in 1962. He served in the Korean War and was an avid ball player all of his life, up to and including the senior leagues. He was a residential contractor and was well known and liked by his fellow workers and clients for his honesty and integrity.

Services will take place at Colonial Baptist Church on Bee Ridge Road at 6 p.m. April 12 with a time of fellowship immediately following.

Interment will be at Sarasota National Cemetery at a later date.

There has been discussion at West Goshen Elementary School to require mandatory student uniforms in the future. How do you feel about the prospect of mandatory student uniforms in a public school environment?

I think it’s an excellent idea that is way overdue
I think it’s a bad idea and would be restrictive for students and parents.
