Leon Robert Baut, 76, passed away Monday at his residence.
He was born Feb. 12, 1936 in Elma, Mich., to Robert and Gretchen (May) Baut.
He married Emiko Harada Oct. 31, 1973; she survives.
Leon was honorably discharged from the United States Navy, where he served in Japan and met his wife, Emiko. He attended the First Brethren Church in Nappanee and enjoyed boating and working outside. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Emiko; four sons, Steven (Michelle) Baut of Milford, Michael (Amy) Baut of New Hampshire, Jeff Baut of Michigan and Todd Baut of Tennessee; two daughters, Debbie Free of Utah and Gretchen Baut of Florida; four grandchildren, Brady, Blaine, Ava and Molly; and four brothers, Bobby (June) Baut, Tommy (Helen) Baut, Billy Baut, and Rex (Linda) Baut.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Mishler Funeral Home, Milford, and Saturday one hour prior to the 10:30 a.m. service at First Brethren Church of Nappanee. The Rev. Tom Schiefer will officiate.
Burial with military rites will follow at Milford Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Milford American Legion Post 226.
