MIDDLEBURY — David Lee Bontrager, 49, of Middlebury, died at 10:55 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 22, at his residence after a battle with cancer. He was born on Jan. 28, 1963, in LaGrange County, to Amos and Polly (Miller) Bontrager. On June 5, 1985, in LaGrange County he married Mary Ellen Miller; she survives.
Survivors in addition to his wife are five daughters, LorAnna (Richard) Miller of Middlebury, Marilyn, Katie Irene, Naomah and Rose Mary Bontrager, all at home; four sons, Freeman, Leonard, LaVern and Matthew Bontrager, all at home; two sisters, Edith Bontrager and Anna Marie (Marlin) Miller both of Middlebury; three brothers, LaVern (Arlene) Bontrager of Middlebury, Cristie (LouAnn) Bontrager of Claire, Mich., and Glen (Erma) Bontrager of Topeka.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was a farmer, had worked at Jayco and was a member and minister of the Old Order Amish Church, being ordained in 2005.
Visitation will be all day today, Nov. 24, at the family’s residence, 11070 W. 050 North Middlebury. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 25, also at the family’s residence. Services will be conducted by Bishop Chris Lambright and the home ministers.
Burial will be in Bontrager Cemetery, Middlebury.
