WAKARUSA — Carol June Schutz-Miller, age 85, of Wakarusa, died at 11:24 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, at Millers Merry Manor in Wakarusa.
She was born Aug. 16, 1927, in Goshen, to Devon and Evelyn (Whitehead) Hunsberger. She lived her lifetime in Wakarusa and was a 1945 graduate of Wakarusa High School.
Carol was married to John Schutz Sept. 27, 1947. He preceded her in death Sept. 24, 1966. Her second marriage was to Art Miller on July 27, 1968. He preceded in death May 18, 1994.
Carol had worked at Drake’s Jewelry Store in Wakarusa and at the Wakarusa Post Office. She retired Oct. 31, 1990, from Elixir Products.
She was a member of the Wakarusa United Methodist Church and the Wakarusa American Legion Auxiliary #307. She also was a member of the Women’s Moose #599 in Elkhart and the Wakarusa Lions Club. Carol enjoyed mowing her yard and was an avid Notre Dame fan.
She is survived by her son, Mike (Jody) Schutz, Nappanee; and grandchildren, Jason (Becky) Schutz, Elkhart and Holly (Ty) Bontrager, Cromwell. She was preceded in death by longtime companion, Dick Metzler.
Family and friends can call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Wakarusa, and for one hour prior to the funeral service which will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 26, at the funeral home. The Rev. Ed Geleske will officiate and burial will be in Olive West Cemetery.
