JOLIET, Ill. — Joy (nee Speicher) Thompson, 69, passed away Sunday at her home with her family by her side.
She is survived by her husband, Ted Thompson; daughter, Jennifer Thompson; son, Jeffrey (Evon) Thompson; brother, David (Carol) Speicher; and sister, Mary Sue (Phil) Yoder. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles M. and Eva May Speicher.
Born in Goshen, Ind., she lived in the Joliet area since 1970.
Joy created and taught the Training Development Program at the University of St. Francis. Prior to her employment at the University of St. Francis, she taught art at Joliet Junior College for 13 years. She was a member of ICCHE, a member and past president of the Zonta Club of Joliet.
Funeral services will take place Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home, Joliet, where friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
Interment will be in Violett Cemetery in Goshen, Ind.
