Catharine Louise (Witmer) Zimmerman, 88, passed away at 1:40 p.m. Monday surrounded by her family at her home.
She was born March 22, 1924 in Elkhart County, to Walter H. and Alma (Shaum) Witmer. She was a homemaker and a member of the Yellow Creek Wisler Mennonite Church.
She married Maynard C. Zimmerman March 24, 1946 in Goshen. He survives, along with a daughter, Wanda Nolt of Wakarusa; eight sons, Dennis Zimmerman of Goshen, Paul Zimmerman of Decker, Mich., Raymond Zimmerman of Snover, Mich., Glen Zimmerman of Nappanee, James Zimmerman of Howe, Carlton Zimmerman of Brooten, Minn., Arden Zimmerman of Nappanee, and Walter Zimmerman of Loudonville, Ohio; two daughters-in-law Reba Zimmerman of Decker, Mich. and Lydia Zimmerman of Middlebury; 50 grandchildren; 75 great-grandchildren; a brother, Paul Witmer of Goshen; and two sisters, Mary Hoover of Goshen and Mable Skiles of Wakarusa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Weldon Zimmerman; two brothers, Isaiah and Anson Witmer; two grandsons; and a great-granddaughter. The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Wakarusa. The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at Yellow Creek Wisler Mennonite Church. Officiating will be John Zimmerman, Ron Martin and James Sadler.
Burial will follow at Yellow Creek Wisler Mennonite Church Cemetery.
