SHIPSHEWANA — Douglas L. Stump 60, died Sunday morning at the Elkhart Hospice House.
He was born Dec. 6, 1952, in Goshen, to James “Jack” and Myrlene (Pillow) Stump.
On Oct. 9, 2010, he married Dawn (Weldy) Christner Schacht, in Wolcottville. She survives.
Also surviving are his father, “Jack;” four sons, Chad (Dawn), Corey, James and Steven Stump, all of Goshen; seven stepchildren; six grandchildren; many foster children; and four brothers, Mike (Gwen) Stump, Elkhart, Jim (Liz) Stump, Wolcottville, Dallas Stump, North Carolina, and Joe (Diana) Stump, Goshen.
He was preceded in death by his mother and a sister, Margo Leatherman.
Mr. Stump was a lifelong area resident. He had recently retired from Veada Industries as a wood shop supervisor. He served in the Army Reserves six years and was a member of the Goshen Moose for many years.
Friends may call Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen, where a funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Mike Overpeck of Bremen Church of the Brethren will officiate.
Burial will follow in New Paris Cemetery.
