GOSHEN — Joseph M. Eigsti, 91, died Tuesday morning at Greencroft Goshen Health Care.
He was born April 27, 1922, to William and Anna (Hartzler) Eigsti, in Buda, Ill.
On June 26, 1949, he married Norma “Jean” Litwiller in Morton, Ill. She preceded him in death May 2, 2002.
He is survived by three children, Eldon (Marilyn) Eigsti, Buda, Ill., Donna (Douglas) Roth, Morton, Ill., and Calvin Eigsti (Sara Swartzendruber), Washington, D.C.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; special friend, Aldine Wyse; and a sister, Marion Nunemaker, Sterling, Ill.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Marcia Eigsti; and two brothers, Walter and Howard Eigsti.
A lifelong farmer, Mr. Eigsti was a member of the Willow Springs Mennonite Church, Tiskilwa, Ill., where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and on the church board. He also served as a school board member and as a member of the Bureau County Farm Bureau Board.
Friends may call from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Willow Springs Mennonite Church, 16621 Kentville Road, Tiskilwa, Ill., where an 11 a.m. memorial service is set to take place. The Rev. Cal Zehr will officiate.
There will be a private family burial service at Willow Springs Mennonite Church Cemetery.
According to his wishes, cremation has taken place at Yoder-Culp Crematory, Goshen.
