Ruth Lucille (Bixler) Tyson

GOSHEN — Ruth Lucille (Bixler) Tyson, 91, went to her heavenly home Thursday with her family by her side.
She was born in Elkhart, to Fred and Martha (Beutler) Bixler on Nov. 22, 1922.
She is survived by her loving husband, Raymond Tyson. They were married Dec. 5, 1942 at her parents’ home and recently celebrated 71 years of marriage.
Survivors include her children, Becky Tyson (Perc Blosser), Elkhart, Brenda Buller (Andy), Goshen, and Kerm Tyson (Michele), Leesburg; 15 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
Preceding her in death are her parents; and sisters, Mary Eby, Grace Weldy and Bertha Shantz.
She was a homemaker and librarian at Wakarusa and Nappanee Public Libraries, teller at First National Bank and assisted with the family business, Shamrock Mobile Home Park. She was a life member of Yellow Creek Mennonite Church.
Her love for traveling, reading, and nature lead her to travel through all 50 states and many international trips. She especially enjoyed the national and state parks. She enjoyed many years of RVing and wintering in Mission, Texas. She was a faithful friend to many persons. She loved volunteering at Greencroft and was a member of the Auxiliary.
Ruth was a member of Lady Lions, Nappanee for 10 years and a 1941 graduate of Wakarusa High School.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen, and 9:30 to 10 a.m. Monday at Yellow Creek Mennonite Church before the committal service and burial at 10 a.m. A celebration of life service will follow at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Wes Bontreger of Yellow Creek Mennonite Church and Margaret Sawatsky, Greencroft Goshen Campus Chaplain, will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Greencroft Foundation or Yellow Creek Mennonite Church.
