GOSHEN — Marion B. “Bill” Patty of Goshen, formerly of Syracuse, passed away at 7:15 a.m. Thursday at his home.
He was born on July 9, 1936 in Fort Wayne, to Marion Francis and Naomi (Bill) Patty.
He graduated in 1954 from Southside High School in Fort Wayne, attended Indiana University in Bloomington for three years and then graduated in 1961 from Huntington College. He served in the United States Army Reserves.
He was married on Oct. 6, 1962 in Fort Wayne, to Nancy E. Showalter, who preceded him in death in 1993, and then on Nov. 10, 1994 in Warsaw, he married Kathleen R. “Kathi” (Pfeiffer) Myers, who survives.
He moved to the Dewart Lake area in 1977 from Fort Wayne and retired in 1999 from Art Iron in Fort Wayne and South Bend after 30 years. In December 2011, he moved to Greencroft Retirement Community in Goshen.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in North Webster, Lakeland Kiwanis in North Webster where he formerly served as president of the club, and Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. He formerly attended the North Webster Church of God, was a member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers and Elks Lodge in Fort Wayne.
He is survived by his wife, Kathi Patty, Goshen; two daughters, Jennifer Zurcher, Nappanee and Jill (Mark) DeWitt, New Paris; two sons, Mark (Jenny) Patty, Columbia City and Michael (Beth) Patty, South Bend; 16 grandchildren and four great grandchildren; two stepsons, Matthew (Michelle) Myers, New Paris and Nathan (Cindy) Myers, Wolf.
He was preceded by his parents; first wife, Nancy Patty; son-in-law, Kim Zurcher; and brother, Thomas Patty.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Monday at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Funeral services will follow at 6 p.m. Monday in the funeral home with the Rev. David Smitley of the church officiating.
