WHITE PIGEON, Mich. — Virginia Claxton, 79, formerly of Goshen, Ind., died Wednesday evening at Borgess Medical Center, Kalamazoo.

She was born April 24, 1934, in Mishawaka, Ind., to Russell and Ila (Sudlow) Claxton.

She is survived by a brother, Richard E. Claxton, White Pigeon; nephew, David Claxton, Elkhart, Ind.; niece, Susan Stoneburner, Alamo; and two grandnephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A longtime Goshen resident, she moved to White Pigeon several years ago to a retirement community. She had many years of clerical experiences, having worked at Goshen College, Mennonite Mutual Aid and Jayco Inc. until her retirement in 1999.

A 1951 graduate of White Pigeon High School, she was affiliated with a nondenominational church in both Goshen and White Pigeon.

Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen, where a 2 p.m. funeral service will be conducted Monday. Greg Harger will officiate.

Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery, Osceola, Ind.
