Elvon M. Berkey

ELKHART — Elvon M. Berkey 87, passed away at his home Thursday.
He was born on July 20, 1926 in LaGrange, to Levi and Loretta (Miller) Berkey.
On Dec. 30, 1986 in Elkhart, he married Veradine E. Wilson, who survives.
Also surviving are three children, Vonette Sue (David) Bibbee of Fort Wayne, Beth (Richard) Rhude and Elvon J. (Angela) Berkey, both of Goshen; three stepchildren, Bret (Becca) Stahly and Kim (Stephanie) Stahly, both of Goshen, and Dawn (Troy) Rider of New Paris; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; a step great-grandchild due in February; a great-great granddaughter; and a sister, Leola Kauffman of Middlebury.
He was preceded in death by six brothers and a sister.
Elvon was an Army veteran who served during the Korean Conflict. He also was a sales representative for DoMore Office Furniture along with numerous other sales jobs.
He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, loved collecting antiques, enjoyed college basketball and gardening.
Visitation for Elvon will be Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home in Elkhart.
There will one hour of additional visitation one hour prior to the 11 a.m. service Monday, at Faith United Methodist Church.
Burial will be at Pleasant View Cemetery in Goshen. The Rev. John Hogsett will preside.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Center for Hospice Care-Elkhart.
