ELKHART — Marian R. Hannah, 84, passed away early Wednesday morning at Emeritus at Arbor wood in Granger.
Marian was born Jan. 16, 1929 in New Paris, to Jacob and Nellie (Defouw) Huitema.
She married Robert K. Packer Sept. 3, 1950 in Goshen. He preceded her in death.
She married Dr. Jack W. Hannah Dec. 31, 1971 in Elkhart. He also preceded her in death.
She is survived by her son, Steven R. (Denise) Packer of Columbus; daughter, Kathy S. Packer of Elkhart; stepson, James D. (Nancy) Hannah of Elkhart; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, John (Mary) Huitema of New Paris and the Rev. Walter (Darlene) Huitema of Whittier, Calif.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Lucille Sechrist and Sylvia Osborn; brother, Nelson Huitema; infant brother, Jerald Huitema; and her stepdaughter, Judy Haulderman.
Marian was a registered nurse and attended Ohio State University from 1969 to 1971 to become a nurse anesthetist. She worked at Elkhart General Hospital and was the former director of nursing at Goshen General Hospital. She also worked with her husband at Anesthesiologist Associates.
Marion enjoyed gardening, sewing and crafts. She played the cello and enjoyed singing in the church choir at the former St. John’s United Church of Christ of which she was a longtime member.
Services celebrating the life of Marian R. Hannah will begin at 11 a.m. with one hour calling prior to the service at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Her brother, the Rev. Walter Huitema, will officiate.
Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Bethel College School of Nursing.
