WESTLER LAKE — Betty Jean Garvin, of Westler Lake near Wolcottville, passed away at her home on Monday at the age of 76.
She was born on July 1, 1937, the daughter of Sam and Mary (Yoder) Petersheim in Yoder, Kan.
On July 21, 1955, she married Glen Slabach.
She later married Jack Garvin Dec. 17, 1983. He preceded her in death June 1, 2004.
She is survived by three children Dean Slabach of Syracuse, Tammy (Tom) Janes of Ligonier and Douglas (Dianne ) Slabach of Goshen; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four siblings, Edna (Paul) Wallace, Cletus (Muriel) Peterson and Arlene (Keith) Julien, all of Goshen, and Earl (Lucy) Petersheim of Bristol.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Anna Marie Sylvester.
She was a life member of the Rome City American Legion Post 381 Ladies Auxiliary, Fraternal Order of Eagles in Kendallville and the Messiah Lutheran Church in Wolcottville. She enjoyed golfing and life on the lake.
Family & friends will be received from Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, where a funeral service will take place in her honor Friday at 11 a.m.
Burial will be in West Goshen Cemetery, Goshen. Pall bearers will be Doug Slabach, Clay Preston, Drew Preston, Stephanie Slabach, Eric Slabach and Brandon Slabach.
