YELLVILLE, Ark. — Mary Maxine “Marty” Hartzler, 62, passed away Wednesday at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home.
She was born Oct. 23 1950 in Goshen, Ind., to Roy E. and Katie (Lichty) Hartzler.
She lived in the area since 2007, moving to Yellville from Houston, Texas. Marty served a lengthy term with the Peace Corps in Yemen and had also worked as a service representative for DuPont. She was an outdoor person who loved gardening, reading and enjoyed wood working. She was a dog lover whose current “canine child’ was Hank.
Marty is survived by three brothers, David Hartzler and his wife, Kathy, of Knoxville, Tenn., Philip Hartzler and his wife, Sandy, of Goshen, Ind., and Dwight Hartzler and his wife, Margaret, of St. Cloud, Fla.; three sisters: Ruth Martin and her husband, Jay, of Lancaster, Pa.; Freda Friesen and her husband, Paul, of Reedley, Calif., and Isabelle Blough and her husband, John, of Hesston, Kan.
A memorial service for Marty is set for 2 p.m. today at Burns Funeral Home Chapel, Yellville. Paul Friesen will conduct the service.
