MOUNDRIDGE, Kan. — Richard R. “Dick” Kaufman, 71, died Jan. 26 at Pine Village, Moundridge.
He was born Sept. 29, 1942, to Dick and Lizzie Yutzy Kaufman in Hutchinson. He graduated from Central Christian High School, Bethel College, University of Wyoming and Wichita State University. He was a teacher and coach for Northridge High School in Middlebury, Ind., Nickerson High School, Nickerson, and Haven High School, Haven.
On Aug. 10, 1968, he married Barbara Annette Claassen in Beatrice, Neb. She survives.
Other survivors include his daughters, Mara Kaufman, Durham, N.C., and Christine (Brad) Schweitzer, Gilbert, Ariz.; granddaughter, Rianna Schweitzer; sisters, Mary (Ray) Troyer and Fannie Mae Bontrager, both of South Hutchinson, Joyce (Larry) Parcell, New Paris, Ind., Marilyn (John) Carman, Johnstown, Colo., and Carolyn (Jim) Hartman, Harrisonburg, Va.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Kenneth Troyer.
A memorial service took place Jan. 30 at Hesston Mennonite Church, Hesston, with the Rev. John C. Murray presiding. Private family inurnment took place in Eastlawn Cemetery, Hesston.
