GOSHEN — Maxine M. Covert, 90, died Monday afternoon at Courtyard Healthcare where she had been a resident since November.
She was born Aug. 26, 1922 in South Bend, to Altis and Frances (Matesick) Stoner.
She married Dora Covert Oct. 12, 1940, in Middlebury. He died April 27, 2012.
Survivors include a son, Gary Covert, Goshen; former daughter-in-law, Karen Covert; a granddaughter, Melanie Craigo, Goshen; a grandson, Timothy (Farrah) Covert, Elkhart; two great-grandchildren, Paige Craigo and Trevor Covert; and three sisters, Janet Culp and Lois (William) Scott, both of Goshen, and Laura Miller, New Carlisle.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; two sisters, Phyllis Roose and June Gnivecki; and two brothers, Duane and DeVoe Stoner.
A 1940 graduate of Middlebury High School and a member of the Little Pine Church of the Brethren, she was a member of the Jefferson Township Fire Department Auxiliary and an avid fan of Indiana University basketball and Chicago Cubs baseball.
Mrs. Covert worked as an assembler at both Penn Electric and Johnson Control.
Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen, where an 11 a.m. funeral service will be conducted Friday. The Rev. Tom Clark will officiate.
Burial will follow in West Goshen Cemetery.
