Dr. Mary Viola Daly

Dec. 12, 1925-April 14, 2013

SPRINGPORT, Mich. — Dr. Mary Viola Daly, 87, formerly of Albion, passed away Sunday at Allegiance Health in Jackson.

She was born Dec. 12, 1925 to Harold L. and Viola (Higgins) Daly.

Mary practiced medicine for 51 years, primarily in Albion, but also servicing Parma, Eaton Rapids and Springport. Mary was a shining example of what the medical profession stood for — caring and compassion. In retirement, she enjoyed gardening, raising cattle, training border collies and watching NASCAR.

Mary is survived by her sister, Barbara Powers of Albion; sister-in-law, Dr. Miriam Daly of Albion; numerous nieces and nephews; and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Dr. Harold Daly, Frank Daly, Charles Daly Sr. and Thomas Daly.

Visitation for family and friends will be Saturday from noon until the 2 p.m. memorial service at the J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finely Drive, Albion. The Rev. Jim Codde will officiate.

There has been discussion at West Goshen Elementary School to require mandatory student uniforms in the future. How do you feel about the prospect of mandatory student uniforms in a public school environment?

I think it’s an excellent idea that is way overdue
I think it’s a bad idea and would be restrictive for students and parents.
