Richard L. Myers

March 14, 1945-April 15, 2013

GOSHEN — Richard L. Myers, 68, died of natural causes unexpectedly Monday evening at his home.

He was born March 14, 1945, in DeKalb County, to Owen O. and Dorothy M. (Smith) Myers.

He married Marilyn Moore Aug. 15, 1964, in Elkhart.

She survives along with two daughters, Tamara (Norberto “Tito”) Colon, Elkhart, and Michele (Harlan) Stoltzfus, Goshen; a son, Robert (Kara) Myers, Miramar, Fla; six grandchildren; a brother, Charles (Linda) Myers, Wakarusa; and a nephew, Eric (Tracey) Glant.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Sharon K. Glant; and a granddaughter, Chelsea Colon.

Mr. Myers retired in 2007 as head custodian at Ox Bow Elementary School. He had previously retired from Interstate Brands after 24 years.

He was an active member of Bristol Church of the Nazarene, where he served as head usher and Sunday school teacher.  While growing up, he enjoyed his years in the 4-H Club.

Visitation will begin one hour prior to the 4 p.m. memorial service Saturday at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen. The Rev. Chad Finney of Bristol Church of the Nazarene will officiate.

Cremation will take place with a private burial at a later date at Sugar Grove Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Bristol Church of the Nazarene, American Cancer Society, Alzheimer’s Association or American Diabetes Association.
