Shirley J. (Harrell) (Loutzenhiser) Shafer, 70, April Lane, Goshen, died Sunday, Oct. 25, at 6:19 p.m. at Elkhart General Hospital, where she had been in and out for the past two months.
She was born Oct. 8, 1939, in Mishawaka, to Edward and Genievie (Zehner) Harrell.
She married Keith Shafer.
She was a cook for Hunter’s Place in Elkhart and was a member of the D.A.V. and the Women of the Moose.
She is survived by two daughters, Rebecca Loutzenhiser and Lenore Cripe, both of Goshen; a son, Arthur Loutzenhiser, Ligonier; two sisters, Francis (William) Dills, Goshen, and Beverly (Charles) Bailey, Alpine, Utah; two brothers, Charles Harrell, Goshen, and Ernest (Sue) Harrell, Middlebury; seven grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call Thursday, Oct. 29, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, Goshen.
The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Lenny Krebs officiating.
Burial will take place at Baintertown Cemetery.
