Melvin Ira Miller

June 13, 1921-Aug. 18, 2008

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Melvin Ira Miller, 87, 5305 S. Monticello Court, formerly of Goshen, died Monday at 12:45 p.m. at his residence where he had lived since February 1984.

He was born June 13, 1921, to Ira S. and Fannie Mae (Bender) Miller, in Goshen.

He married Pauline (Kenagy) Miller, Oct. 21, 1955, in Goshen. She survives in South Bend.

Also surviving are his daughter, Barbara (Ron) Cote, Palatine, Ill.; a son, David (Dawn) Miller, Hesperia, Calif.; a sister, Lillian Gingerich, Goshen; a brother, Marion (Debbie) Miller, Union, Mich.; and four grandchildren, Noah, Jacob and Becky Miller, Hesperia, Calif. and Nathanial Cote, Palatine, Ill.

She was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lewis Miller.

He worked in weather for pilots in the Federal Aviation Administration. He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association, the Airplane Owner and Pilot Association, the National Association for Railroad Passengers and Kern Road Mennonite Church, South Bend.

Visitation hours will be from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Kern Road Mennonite Church, South Bend.

Graveside services will take place at 9 a.m. Friday in Clinton Community Cemetery prior to the memorial service which will begin at 11 a.m. at Kern Road Mennonite Church. The Revs. David and Janice Sutter of the church will lead the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care.
