NAPPANEE, Ind. — Marcus W. Ramer, 75, 24517 C.R. 44, died Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at his home. He had been ill with Parkinson’s Disease for 15 years and suffered a stroke June 22.
He was born in Nappanee Aug. 15, 1932, to Isaiah and Penola (Witmer) Ramer. He lived in the Goshen and Nappanee area all of his life.
He was former owner of Ramer’s Repair Service, retiring in 1995 after 28 years. He also farmed. He was a member of Wisler Mennonite Church, Goshen, where he was baptized as a youth. He served on the Foraker Fire Department for 24 years and enjoyed fishing, especially with his family.
He married Carrie Martin June 5, 1955, in Goshen. She survives.
Also surviving are five daughters, Kathleen (Charles) Ramer, New Paris, Connie (Enos) Rodes, Syracuse, Julie (Roy) Rodes, New Paris, Karla (Burnett) Martin, Bremen, and Angela (Nelson) Nolt, Unity, Wis.; five sons, Darrell (Rachel) Ramer, Cazenovia, Wis., Nelson (Laura) Ramer, Nappanee, Dwight Ramer, Ligonier, Lyle (Barb) Ramer, Snover, Mich., and Travis Ramer, at home; three foster children, Jerry (Tammy) Miller, Fort Wayne, Greg Wetzel, Decker, Mich., and Paulette Tramble, Duluth, Ga.; 39 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three foster grandchildren; three sisters, Lois (Truman) Martin, Nappanee, Esther Graybill, Flora, and Viola (Leonard) Hartman, Gallopolis, Ohio; and three brothers, Amos (Martha) Ramer, New Paris, Robert (Erma) Ramer, Goshen, and David (Marceil) Ramer, Coudrey, Wis.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a great-granddaughter.
Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the family home, 24517 C.R. 44, Nappanee.
A prayer service at the family home will take place at 9 a.m. Monday with services to follow at 10 a.m. at Wisler Mennonite Church, Goshen, at the corner of C.R.s 38 and 11. Services will be conducted by the Home Ministry.
Burial will be in Yellow Creek Frame Cemetery, Goshen.
