Sarah E. Bontrager

April 16, 1913-July 1, 2009





SHIPSHEWANA — Sarah E. Bontrager, 96, 7205 W. 200 North, Shipshewana, died Wednesday at 2 a.m. at BRC Home Care, Middlebury, after an extended Illness.

She was born April 16, 1913, in LaGrange County to Andrew S. and Annie D. (Yoder) Schrock.

She married Amos A. Bontrager Nov. 21, 1939, in LaGrange County. He died June 8, 1982. She was a homemaker and member of the Old Order Amish Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Anna Sue Lambright, Shipshewana, Katie Marie (Levi “Lee”) Miller, Nappanee, and Wilma (Casper) Hochstetler, Shipshewana; two sons, Orva Jay (Elsie) Bontrager, Shipshewana, and Elmer Dean (Louise) Bontrager, Sarasota, Fla.; 19 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; a sister, Lydia Borntrager, Middlebury; and a brother, David (Viola) Schrock, Middlebury.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son-in-law, Menno Lambright; two grandsons, Dennis and Richard Lambright; a great-grandson, Keith Allen Schlabach; two sisters, Polly Schrock and Amanda Yoder; and four brothers, Edward, William, Sam and Andrew Schrock.

Visitation will be all day today at the Casper Hochstetler residence, 7245 W. 200 North, Shipshewana, where services will take place at 9:30 a.m. Friday. Bishop Jerry Miller and the home ministers will conduct the service.

Burial will be in the East Barren Cemetery, Shipshewana,.
