Thelma VanScoik Hoagland

May 13, 1920-June 19, 2009

Thelma VanScoik Hoagland, 89, passed away June 19, 2009.

She was born May 13, 1920, outside of Goshen.

She graduated from Fort Wayne Bible College with a major in music.

She began a cake decorating and catering business in the 1960s. Later, she focused on her true passion when she became the head cake decorator for many years at Hall’s Bakery.

She is survived by children Richard, Donald, David, Daniel and Deborah; grandchildren Conner, Collin, Nathan and Andrew; and longtime friend and aide Patti Bennett.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; and siblings Ethel Shrock, Berlin, Viola Daley and Robert.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. funeral service at Klaehn, Fahl and Melton Funeral Home, Fort Wayne.

Burial will be in Covington Memorial Gardens.
