Fannie Kauffman

Sept. 3, 1918-June 19, 2009

RENSSELAER — Fannie Kauffman, 90, died Friday afternoon as the result of an automobile accident in Elkhart County. Her brother, Rudy Anderson, Rensselaer, was also killed in the accident.

She was born in Newton County Sept. 3, 1918, the daughter of Menno and Amanda (Hochstetler) Anderson, both deceased. She was educated in the Mount Ayr Schools.

She had been an employee of Jasper County Hospital in the housekeeping department for several years. She was a member of the Burr Oak Mennonite Church.

She married Elmer J. Kauffman in Rensselaer March 20, 1972. He preceded her in death Nov. 27, 2003.

She is survived by her daughters, Jeanette (Jack) Reimer, Gridley, Ill., and Joella Hays, Springfield, Ill.; siblings, Andy (Marilyn) Anderson, Kouts, Emma Yoder, Mendon, Mich., Clara Hochstetler and Rosa Lohr, Kentland, Milile (Wayne) Miller, Tillie (Robert) Shank and Sarah Hershberger, all of Goshen.

Friends may call from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the funeral services at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Burr Oak Mennonite Church, northwest of Rensselaer. The Rev. Debbie Voss will officiate at the service and interment will follow in Burr Oak Cemetery.

Steinke Funeral Home, Rensselaer, is handling the funeral arrangements.

Memorials are suggested to Burr Oak Mennonite Church.
