Agnes Clyde Gingrich

July 25, 1911-May 10, 2008

SYRACUSE, Ind. — Agnes Clyde Gingrich, 96, died Saturday at 11 p.m. at Miller’s Merry Manor, Syracuse, of natural causes.

She married Benjamin William Gingrich, July 30, 1932. He preceded her in death in 1980.

She was born in Beach, N.D., to Clinton and Irene (Moyer) Clyde on July 25, 1911. She grew up in Elkhart and then moved to South Bend, where she resided until 1964, when she and her husband moved to Syracuse for retirement.

She worked as an executive secretary at Bendix Corporation. She then became an accountant for a firm in South Bend. Mrs. Gingerich is accredited with establishing the accounting department for Crown International. After her official retirement in the 1960s, she later became the accountant for JC Manufacturing, North Webster, and remained in that capacity until 2004. She worked in various capacities at Goshen General Hospital as a volunteer for a total of over 5,000 hours.

She was a member of Brenneman Memorial Missionary Church, Goshen.

Surviving are her daughter, Mary Agnes G. Carter, Syracuse; a granddaughter, Christine (Steve) Schaap, Rockford, Mich.; four great-grandchildren, Zachrey, Nicholas, Jonathon and Alex, all of Rockford, Mich.; a brother, the Rev. Robert S. (Audrey) Clyde, Syracuse; six nephews and five nieces.

She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant son, Benjamin Jr.; her parents; a brother, Chester Clyde; and two sisters, Ruby Moore Hunsberger and Francis Clipp.

Private family funeral services will take place at Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home, Harris Chapel, Syracuse, and will be conducted by the Revs. Gordon Bacon and Robert S. Clyde.

Friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Highland Riverview Cemetery, South Bend.

Memorials may be made to Brenneman Memorial, Missionary Church or the American Heart Association.

Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home, Harris Chapel, Syracuse, is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.misher funeralhomes.com.
