Velma Nusbaum

KENDALLVILLE, Ind. — Velma Nusbaum, 83, of 351 Allen Chapel Road in Kendallville, Ind., died at 6:25 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at Shepherd on the Hill Nursing Center, Kendallville.
She was born April 3, 1925 in Elkhart County, to the late Edward Kauffman and the late Mary (Weaver) Kauffman.
On August 25, 1945 she married Richard J. Nusbaum. She was a homemaker and did foster care out of her home for 17 years. She was a member of Liberty Community Church and she enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include her husband and her children, Kathy Jordan, Sarasota, Fla.; Mary and Ron Beckner, Kendallville; Lloyd and Cheryl Nusbaum, Middlebury; Nancy Morris, Goshen; Richard J. Nusbaum, South Bend; Patty and Ron Eutsey, Shipshewana; Jessie Choguet, Elkhart; 12 grandchildren, two great grandchildren; and one sister, Irene Kauffman, Middlebury.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Gerald and Leroy Nusbaum; three sisters, Orpha Eash, Edna Lockwood and Sylvia Kropf; and two brothers, Harley and David Kauffman.
Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 S. Main St., Middlebury.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middle-bury.
