Mark Mow Elkhart Schools’ interim superintendent

During a meeting Tuesday, the Elkhart Community Schools Board of School Trustees voted unanimously to name Mark Mow as the interim superintendent.

Mow was the superintendent of Elkhart Community Schools from 2002 until his retirement in 2012. He started with Elkhart Community Schools in 1970 as a middle school science teacher and worked at several Elkhart schools before becoming superintendent in 2002. Mow has stayed actively involved in the schools in a number of volunteer roles.

“I am honored to return to the school corporation,” Mow said. “I’m particularly looking forward to joining what I consider to be an outstanding staff as we keep our promise to Elkhart kids and families and the community. As far as the strategic plan goes, I can tell you I am also planning to work with you to move that plan forward in a very thoughtful and financially responsible way.”

Mow will assume the interim superintendent role July 1. Current superintendent Robert Haworth will resign from his position June 30. Earlier this month, Haworth accepted a position as superintendent of Vigo County School Corporation.
