Women’s SoccerFreshman midfielder Gaby Romo (Goshen) netted the lone goal for the IPFW Mastodons in a 3-1 loss to North Dakota State. Despite the loss, IPFW still clinched a playoff spot in the upcoming Summit League Tournament.
Women’s SwimmingSenior Emily Wisolek (Northridge) placed first in the 200-yard backstroke (2:09.24) and second in the 100 back (1:00.51) for the Ball State Cardinals in a 182-118 loss to Michigan State. She also teamed with senior Haley Richter (Columbia City), junior Carlena Magley (DeKalb) and freshman Audrey Rodawig for a first in the 400 freestyle relay (3:31.85). Also for the Cardinals, junior Kayla Hussey (Goshen) was fifth in the 500 free (5:23.04) and sixth in the 200 butterfly (2:15.87) and junior Jamie Denlinger (Northridge) seventh in three-meter diving (204.15 points) and eighth in one-meter diving (178.34).University of Buffalo freshman Brittany Walters (Northridge) won the 200-yard freestyle (1:55.54) and was second in the 200 butterfly (2:08.07)) as the Bulls dropped a 140-89 decision to Ohio University. Walters teamed with junior Becky Evangelista, freshman Courtney Cook and sophomore Paula Stoddard for a first in the 400 free relay (3:33.70).
Women’s Cross CountrySophomore Juni Schirch (Goshen) was the fifth runner for Eastern Mennonite and the 21st overall finisher (26:02.80) as the Royals took second place in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championships in Farmville, Virginia.Several area runners competed in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships at Defiance, Ohio. Manchester junior Rachel Weeber (Concord) was 10th (23:34.7), Anderson junior Desiree Maran (Goshen) 17th (24:36.9), Anderson sophomore Janell Bender (Westview) 24th (24:49.6) and Manchester senior Laura Gladfelter 85th (28:05.4).Men’s Cross CountryManchester junior Drew Hammel (Northridge) placed 10th (32:30.2) in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships at Defiance, Ohio.
